Check the requirements before your visit

Alberta’s out-of-province inspection checks safety and vehicle equipment standards. It must be performed at a licensed inspection facility by a technician licensed for that inspection program.

If an inspection is required, obtain the Request for Vehicle Inspection Form from an Alberta registry and bring it to the inspection facility with the vehicle. Follow the current Alberta government inspection guidance for the process, exemptions and next steps.

Discuss your vehicle

Tell the shop about known concerns and previous repairs. An out-of-province inspection has a defined purpose; it is different from a pre-purchase assessment and does not guarantee that a vehicle will never need repairs.
