The Honda 3.5 timing-belt work shown in this article is a reminder to check your vehicle’s maintenance requirements before a belt service becomes overdue.
Why the timing belt matters
In an engine equipped with a timing belt, the belt keeps the crankshaft and camshaft movement coordinated. A belt problem can cause serious engine damage, so the correct replacement schedule matters.
Some engines use a timing chain instead. Do not assume every Honda or every vehicle has a belt.
Use the correct schedule
Check the owner’s manual and the manufacturer’s guidance for your exact model, year and driving conditions. A broad mileage range is not a reliable replacement interval for every Honda.
If the service history is incomplete, ask a mechanic to help establish what is known and what maintenance is due.
Request a maintenance appointment at AMR Automotive in southeast Calgary and bring any timing-belt service records you have.
