2008 BMW 535xi Upgraded by AMR Automotiv

This 2008 BMW 535xi recently came into our shop for a mix of performance upgrades and much-needed maintenance.

We installed CTS upgraded turbos along with upgraded inlet and outlet pipes, giving the engine better airflow and quicker response. Catless VRSF downpipes were added to reduce backpressure and sharpen the car’s exhaust note. With the hardware in place, ECU Program in Calgary completed a custom tune that brought the car up to roughly 400 horsepower.

While boosting performance, we also tackled several important maintenance items, including worn transfer case mount bushings, aging front lower control arms, and common oil cooler and oil pan gasket leaks. A transfer case fluid service helped resolve binding issues in the xDrive system, restoring smooth operation.

To finish the job, the car received a complete four-wheel alignment to ensure every upgrade and repair worked together exactly as intended.

The result is a 535xi that’s stronger, smoother, and ready for many more miles of confident driving.

Winter Car Trouble

Classic Transmission & Differential Repair

At AMR Automotive Calgary, we love breathing new life into classic cars. Recently, we worked on a 1965 Plymouth Valiant equipped with the iconic 904 push-button transmission. Our team fully rebuilt the transmission, remade the cooler lines, and removed the inline filter for a cleaner setup. We also sent the radiator out for a hot tank and cleaning to ensure optimal cooling performance.

The job also required repairing the rear differential seal and pinion seal, essential steps to keep this Valiant cruising smoothly without leaks. Now, this timeless ride is back on the road where it belongs.

AMR Automotive Restoring a 1968 Mercury Comet

We recently had the pleasure of working on a beautiful 1968 Mercury Comet in our Calgary shop. Like most classics, it came in with a few issues that needed attention, and we were happy to get this ride back to its best.

The brakes were soft, so we added a vacuum pump to boost braking performance and swapped out the worn brake hoses. The master cylinder had deteriorating seals and was leaking, so we replaced it with a brand-new one to restore full braking power.

We upgraded the fuel system by installing a new mechanical fuel pump and adding a backup electric pump for extra reliability. This way, the Comet is ready for any drive without worry.

To finish things off, we replaced the rear shocks with a fresh set of air shocks for a smoother ride and better handling.

New Life for a Classic Ford Maverick

There’s something special about bringing a classic back to life, and our latest project, a Ford Maverick rebuild, was no exception

We started with essential mechanical upgrades, replacing the brakes and ball joints, followed by a precise wheel alignment to keep the ride smooth and safe. A brand-new windshield now gives the Maverick a crystal-clear view of the road ahead.

Inside, we rebuilt the floorboards, customized the torque box, and repaired the dashboard lights. We’re also working on a 3D-printed version of the dash housing, a project we think will interest other Maverick enthusiasts looking for modern solutions to vintage challenges.

To protect all that work for years to come, we applied Woolwax undercoating, sealing the underside against rust and corrosion.

The exterior also got some love, with bodywork on the doors and a fresh coat of paint on the hood, restoring the Maverick’s iconic look.
