Importance of Injector Maintenance

Regular injector maintenance is vital for the optimal performance and longevity of your vehicle. Injectors play a crucial role in the fuel delivery system, ensuring the proper amount of fuel is delivered to the engine for combustion. Here’s why injector maintenance should never be overlooked:

Clean and properly functioning injectors ensure that fuel is atomized and distributed evenly, maximizing fuel efficiency. Over time, injectors can become clogged with carbon deposits or dirt, leading to poor fuel atomization and decreased fuel efficiency.

Clogged injectors can disrupt the air-fuel mixture, resulting in rough idling, hesitation, or a noticeable drop in engine performance. Regular maintenance helps maintain smooth engine operation and prevents performance issues.

Efficient injectors contribute to cleaner combustion, reducing harmful emissions released into the environment. By keeping injectors clean and well-maintained, you’re not only benefiting your vehicle but also helping to minimize your carbon footprint.

Neglecting injector maintenance can lead to more severe engine problems down the line, such as engine misfires or even engine damage. Preventive maintenance is far more cost-effective than dealing with major repairs later on.

A well-maintained fuel system, including injectors, contributes to the overall health and longevity of your engine. By ensuring proper fuel delivery, you’re reducing wear and tear on engine components, which can extend the lifespan of your vehicle.

Schedule your injector maintenance or inspection with AMR Automotive Services today and ensure the continued performance and reliability of your vehicle.

The Role of Ongoing Maintenance

Our vehicles become trusted companions, but amidst life’s rush, maintenance often slips our minds. Just as our bodies need check-ups, our cars demand regular attention for safe operation.

Cracked windows are more than cosmetic; they compromise safety by weakening structural integrity and reducing visibility, especially in poor weather or darkness. Malfunctioning brake lights seem minor but can lead to rear-end collisions due to a lack of timely warnings for following drivers.

Wheel alignment, often overlooked, affects tire wear and steering control, posing risks, especially at high speeds. Worn brakes, crucial for safety, increase stopping distances and damage other components if neglected.

The solution? Regular maintenance by qualified mechanics. Through inspections, issues like cracked windows, faulty brake lights, misaligned wheels, and worn brakes can be addressed before they escalate, ensuring safety and preserving vehicle performance.

Investing in maintenance isn’t just about preserving value but safeguarding lives. Prioritizing upkeep ensures smooth, worry-free travel for you, your passengers, and fellow road users. With proper maintenance, you can navigate the road with confidence.

Why Are Out of Province Inspections Necessary for Vehicles Entering Alberta?

Out of Province Inspections

If you’re moving to Alberta from another province or purchasing a vehicle from out of province, one thing you’ll encounter is the requirement for an Out of Province Inspection (OPI). This process may seem like an inconvenience at first, but it serves a vital purpose in ensuring road safety and vehicle compliance standards across the province.

The primary reason for out of province inspections is safety. Alberta, like all provinces, has its own set of safety standards that vehicles must meet to operate safely on its roads. These standards encompass various aspects of a vehicle, including brakes, tires, lights, steering, suspension, and emissions systems. An OPI helps ensure that vehicles brought into the province meet or exceed these safety requirements, reducing the risk of accidents caused by mechanical failures.

Each province in Canada may have slightly different regulations regarding vehicle safety and emissions. By requiring an out of province inspection, Alberta ensures that vehicles entering its jurisdiction comply with its specific regulations. This helps maintain uniformity in safety standards and ensures that all vehicles on Alberta roads meet the same baseline requirements.

Out of province inspections also serve as a means to deter fraud and prevent vehicle theft. By verifying the vehicle’s identification numbers and ownership documents, inspectors can help ensure that the vehicle is not stolen and that its history is legitimate. This protects both consumers and the public from unknowingly purchasing stolen or misrepresented vehicles.

For individuals purchasing a vehicle from out of province, an OPI provides peace of mind. It offers assurance that the vehicle has undergone a thorough inspection by certified professionals and meets the necessary safety standards. This helps protect consumers from purchasing unsafe or unreliable vehicles that may require costly repairs shortly after purchase.

Ultimately, out of province inspections contribute to maintaining the roadworthiness of vehicles in Alberta. By identifying and addressing potential safety concerns before a vehicle is allowed on the road, these inspections help reduce the likelihood of accidents and breakdowns, thereby enhancing overall road safety for everyone.

Shock Absorbers Matter

Your vehicle’s shock absorbers may not be the flashiest components, but they play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and safe ride. Shocks absorb the impact of bumps, potholes, and other irregularities on the road, providing stability, comfort, and control to your driving experience.

Effective shock absorbers help maintain tire contact with the road, ensuring optimal grip and traction, especially during sudden maneuvers or emergency stops. This directly contributes to your vehicle’s overall safety and handling.

By minimizing the impact of rough road conditions, shock absorbers help protect other vital components of your vehicle, such as the suspension system, steering components, and even the body structure, from premature wear and tear.

But like all parts of your vehicle, shock absorbers can wear out over time. Here are some signs that it might be time to replace them.

If your vehicle bounces excessively after hitting a bump or dip in the road, it’s a clear indicator that your shock absorbers are no longer effectively dampening the motion.

Worn-out shock absorbers can lead to decreased stability and control, especially during cornering or sudden maneuvers. If you notice increased body roll or a drifting sensation while driving, it’s time to have your shocks inspected.

Faulty shock absorbers can cause uneven tire wear patterns, as the tires may not maintain consistent contact with the road surface. Keep an eye out for signs of uneven wear, such as cupping or scalloping, which could indicate a problem with your shocks.

Excessive rattling, clunking, or banging noises coming from your vehicle’s suspension system are often a sign of worn-out shock absorbers. Ignoring these sounds could lead to further damage and compromise your safety on the road.

Regular inspection and maintenance of your vehicle’s shock absorbers are essential for ensuring a smooth, safe, and enjoyable driving experience.

Schedule your shock absorber inspection with AMR Automotive Services today and ensure the continued performance and reliability of your vehicle.

Braking Performance

To ensure optimal braking performance for your vehicle, fully coated rotors stand out as a superior choice. These rotors are engineered with a comprehensive coating that offers a range of benefits, making them a top-notch option for any brake job.

First and foremost, the full coating on these rotors provides excellent protection against rust and corrosion. This is particularly crucial in areas with harsh weather conditions, like Calgary or where roads are frequently treated with salt or other corrosive materials. By preventing rust buildup, fully coated rotors maintain their structural integrity over time, prolonging their lifespan and ensuring consistent braking performance.

The coating on these ceramic pads helps to reduce brake pad wear and noticeably changing the accumulation of dust over the coating on the rotors. This not only contributes to a cleaner appearance of your wheels but also extends the life of both the brake pads and the rotors themselves, ultimately reducing maintenance costs in the long run.

Fully coated rotors typically undergo advanced manufacturing processes to ensure precise and uniform coating application. This results in smoother braking action and enhanced heat dissipation, which are critical factors for optimal braking performance and safety, especially during heavy or prolonged braking.

Schedule your brake inspection with AMR Automotive Services today and ensure the continued performance and reliability of your vehicle.

At AMR Automotive Services, we understand the importance of keeping your vehicle in top condition during the winter months.

One of the most common issues during winter is extra battery drain. Cold temperatures can significantly reduce your battery’s efficiency, making it harder for your car to start. To combat this problem, make sure your battery is in good condition. If your battery is more than three years old, it might be a good idea to have it tested and, if necessary, replaced.

Maintaining clear visibility is crucial for safe winter driving. However, icy conditions can be tough on your windshield wipers, leading to breakage or reduced effectiveness. Replace them if they appear brittle or damaged.

Cold temperatures can also impact your vehicle’s fluids, including fuel. To prevent a frozen fuel tank, try to keep your gas tank at least half full during the winter. Check and top up other essential fluids like oil, transmission fluid, and antifreeze regularly to ensure they remain effective in colder conditions.

AMR Automotive in Calgary are here to help ensure your vehicle stays in optimal condition. Stay safe on the roads and embrace the beauty of winter with a well-maintained and reliable car.

Keeping your vehicle maintained in winter will give you peace of mind just knowing you’ve prepared for the conditions ahead. Call AMR Automotive 403-243-2483 to arrange your appointment today.

The Perfect Time For a Maintenance Check-up

Maintenance check-up

This will not be the last of winter in Calgary and as Canadians we all know that cold weather is hard on your vehicle and its engine. Vehicle failure is far more likely to happen in cold weather and the consequences more dangerous. Be pro-active!

Make sure your battery, brakes, cooling and heating systems, belts and hoses, lights and fuses, exhaust systems, windshield wipers and tires are in tip-top shape.

  1. Battery – your motor needs a fully charged battery to start in cold weather. Have your battery tested in the fall and install a new one if necessary BEFORE it fails.
  2. Brakes – check your brakes and have them adjusted if necessary. Pulling, change in pedal feel, or unusual squealing or grinding may mean they need repair.
  3. Cooling and Heating System – check your radiator hoses and drive belts for cracks and leaks. All belts and hoses must be in good condition. Make sure the radiator cap, water pump and thermostat work properly. Test the strength and level of the coolant/anti-freeze, and make sure the heater and defroster work well. Anti-freeze safe to at least -40°C is recommended.
  4. Lights – make sure the front and rear lights are working properly to ensure good visibility. And especially ensure the car’s flashing hazard lights are operational.
  5. Exhaust System – be sure to check the whole system for leaks. Any exhaust system leak can allow carbon monoxide to seep into the passenger compartment. Carbon monoxide is an insidious killer because it is colourless and odourless. This problem is most dangerous in winter when windows are kept closed.
  6. Windshield Wipers – make sure that your wipers are in good condition. Replace blades that streak. Change your wiper blades to winter blades. They are heavier and push snow and ice more easily. Fill up on winter washer fluid in the -40°C temperature range and carry an extra jug in your vehicle.
  7. Tires – properly inflated, high quality winter tires will give you the best traction on winter roads and increase fuel efficiency. Winter tires are designed with a soft rubber formula to remain flexible in sub-zero temperatures and provide superior traction in icy conditions.

Preventative maintenance is key. Getting your vehicle ready for winter will give you peace of mind just knowing you’ve prepared for the conditions ahead. Call AMR Automotive 403-243-2483 to arrange your appointment today.

Why Spark Plugs Matter

AMR Automotive Spark Plug ServicingAt the heart of your car’s engine lies the combustion process and spark plugs are instrumental in initiating this sequence. As the piston compresses the air-fuel mixture within the combustion chamber, the spark plug generates a spark that ignites the mixture, resulting in controlled explosions that drive the engine’s pistons. This continuous cycle is what ultimately powers your car.

Worn-Out Spark Plugs and Consequences:

Over time, spark plugs can wear out due to intense heat and pressure. When spark plugs become worn or damaged, several issues can arise, affecting both performance and fuel efficiency. One of the primary consequences of worn-out spark plugs is poor fuel efficiency.

Engine misfires are another common problem associated with worn-out spark plugs. Misfires occur when the spark plug fails to ignite the air-fuel mixture at the right time. Not only does this compromise performance, but it can also result in increased emissions and potential damage to other engine components.

Inspection Interval:

To ensure that your spark plugs are in optimal condition, it is crucial to adhere to the inspection and replacement intervals recommended by your vehicle’s manufacturer.
